The F1b's are more hypoallergenic for allergy sufferers with soft curly hair.
The F1's are more for Lab lovers that don't love the shedding and can range from a scruffy coat to wavy curls, weeds and burrs rarely stick or can be picked out or easily combed out so they transition to the home much more easily than a Lab.
The primary benefits of an F1b Labradoodle are little to no shedding which is great for allergy sufferers who want a dog.
